The Migrant Education Program is a federally funded program designed to provide supplementary educational and support services to children and youth of migrant families, ages 3 to 21 years.
Services: The migrant student has the same needs as all students, but these needs are compounded by frequent mobility, poverty and limited-English language skills. As such, they are twice as likely to drop out of school. To address these needs, Region II believes a two-prong approach addresses the immediate need of the student, while the second focuses on promoting systemic changes within our educational system. These approaches may include the following services.
Student: Identification & Recruitment, After School Tutorial, Assessment, Preschool Programs, Limited Medical & Dental, Emergency Food & Clothing, & Reading Recovery, Staff Development, & Parent Education/Involvement.
