Veteran ID Cards
Because many veterans do not have a quick or easy way to show proof that they are veterans, the Lake County Board of Supervisors has authorized the County Veterans Service Office to begin issuing Veteran Photo ID Cards that will identify the individual as a U.S. military veteran.
The Veterans Service Office staff will follow VA guidelines to verify that the individual has served in the U.S. military and was discharged under honorable conditions or for medical reasons.
The Veteran Indentification Card can be useful to verify veteran’s status for participating stores, restaurants, businesses, and casinos offering discounts or promotions to veterans.
The Veterans Office has started to create a list of local and national businesses who offer discounts to veterans, and our office is also encouraging local businesses who want to be added to the list to contact our office.
Applying for the Veterans Card will also give the Veterans Service Office the opportunity to inform you about your entitlement to federal, state and local benefits and to assist you in applying for those benefits.
If you wish to obtain a Veteran ID Card, you will need to call the Lake County Veterans Service Office at 707-263-2384 to make an appointment and complete a County of Lake Veteran Identification Card Application.
You will need to bring to your appointment your application, a legible, original copy 4 of your DD214/Military Discharge or a copy of any VA rating decision showing you were rated with a service connected disability. If either of these documents are not available, contact our office and we can assist you in obtaining your DD214 or a VA Rating Decision.
Veterans will also need to show a driver’s license or other form of legal identification at the time of the appointment.
