Effluent Pipeline System Components

Northwest Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant

  •  Intake from effluent storage reservoir.
  •  Pump station No. 1:
    • Three 200 hp vertical turbine pumps.
    • Electrical building.
    • Surge tank.
    • Normal flow: 1,420 gpm.

Lyons Creek Wetlands

  • Twenty-two acres containing four wetland cells and interpretive facilities.
  • Expansion potential for additional three cells.
  • Total average flow rate: 15-20 gpm.

Phase 2 Main Pipeline

  • Approx. 24.75 miles of 16-inch diameter pipe from the NW Regional Treatment Plant to the SE Regional Treatment Plant.

Clearlake Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant & Pump Station

  • Normal flow: 275-500 gpm.
  • Pump station No. 2:
    • Three 250 hp. vertical turbine pumps.
    • Electrical building.
    • Surge tank.

Clear Lake Water Intake

  •  Lake intake screen and suction line.
  •  Pump station:
    • Four 125 hp submersible turbine pumps
    • Electrical building.
    • Surge tank.
    • Normal flow: 4,000 gpm.
    • Total dynamic head: 210 ft.
    • Energy requirement: 290 kW.

Clear Lake Water Intake Pipeline

  •  Approx. 3 miles of 20-inch diameter ductile iron pipe.
  •  Normal flow: 4,000 gpm.

Southeast Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant

  •  Intake from effluent storage reservoir.
  •  Pump station:
    • Seven 300 hp vertical turbine pumps.
    • Electrical building.
    • Surge tank.
    • Flow control structure.
    • Normal flow: 6,500 gpm.

B-Street Pump Station 

  • Two (2) 600 hp vertical turbine pumps
  • Rated Capacity: 7400 gpm
  • Total dynamic head: 253 ft.

Phase 1 Main Pipeline

  •  Approx. 20 miles of 20-inch diameter ductile iron and welded.
  •  250,000 gallon steel flow control reservoir at Harris Creek.

Middletown Wastewater Treatment Plant

  •  One 30 hp vertical turbine pump.
  •  Normal flow: 100 gpm.

Bear Canyon Zero Pump Station

  • One 350 hp Horizontal pump
  •  Normal flow 500 gpm; variable up to 6800 gpm

Bear Canyon Pipeline and Pump Stations

  •  Approx. 5 miles of 20-inch diameter welded steel pipe.
  •  Approx. 1 mile of 16-inch welded steel pipe.
  •  3 pump stations, each including:
    • - Four 450 hp end suction centrifugal pumps.
    • - Suction and discharge surge tanks.
    • - Normal flow: 5,400 gpm.
    • - Total Dynamic head: 675 ft.
    • - Energy requirement: 990 kW

Injection Wells and Power Plants

  •  NCPA: up to four wells (2,000 gpm each) serving Power Plants 1 and 2.
  •  Calpine: up to nine wells (2,000 gpm each) serving Power Plants 13, 16, 18, and 20.

  •  Total pipeline length: 53 miles.
  •  Total dynamic head: 2,985 ft. cells.
  •  Total elevation gain: 1,970 ft.
  •  Total energy requirement: 4,280 kW cells.
