CalWORKs Pediculosis Anti-Lice (PAL) Program
Contract staff from the PAL Program works at numerous schools throughout the County providing lice eradication services to CalWORKs families. Contract staff performs head checks at designated school sites, provide information on head lice education, treatment and eradication, and make home visits to CalWORKs participants in need of additional services. These services can include referrals to other programs, the purchase of supplies necessary to aid in the treatment of lice eradication or loaning of appliances such as vacuums. The contractor works closely with the family to assist with any questions or difficulties in administering the treatments. The primary goal of the PAL Program is for the child to be able to return to school lice-free thus allowing the parent to return to work or participate in other WtW activities.
