The Board of Supervisors 0n November 2, 2004, enacted an ordinance expanding the underground utility district on Main Street in Upper Lake. The expansion includes the area from Highway 20 to Washington Street and from First to Second Street (See map below). Undergrounding utilities is part of the streetscape effort to improve the appearance of the downtown area. The undergrounding of the street between Highway 20 and Washington is also necessary to have completed in order to get the most out of the Gateway project which includes a drainage system, sidewalk and arch. The additional undergrounding between First and Second Streets will support the expanded commercial district in that area and complement the renovations of the Riffe’s Hotel and the barn.
The undergrounding project was completed in 2008, and the Upper Lake Main Street project was completed in 2010.
