Public Notice

THE LAKE COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENT HAS RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE INDIAN GAMING SPECIAL DISTRIBUTION FUND BY WAY OF A LOCAL GOVERNMENT MITIGATION GRANT APPLICATION. THIS FUNDING HAS ALLOWED THE DEPARTMENT TO ASSIGN A DEPUTY PROBATION OFFICER TO A CASELOAD OF OFFENDERS THAT HAVE ENGAGED IN CRIMINAL CONDUCT DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY RELATED TO THE GAMING INDUSTRY. THIS INCLUDES CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST CASINOS, AT CASINOS AND/OR TO FACILITATE GAMBLING ACTIVITIES. IN THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS OF THE PROGRAM, OVER $41,000 IN RESTITUTION HAS BEEN COLLECTED FOR THE VICTIMS OF THESE CRIMES, AND IN ADDITION, MANY OFFENDERS HAVE PARTICIPATED IN COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMS. FORTY PROBATIONERS HAVE HAD THEIR PROBATION REVOKED FOR MISCONDUCT. TWO WERE SENTENCED TO PRISON, WHILE OTHER CLIENTS HAVE BEEN SENTENCED TO JAIL AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICE. NINETY-FIVE PROBATIONERS ARE ON THIS CASELOAD AND ALL ARE RECEIVING CLOSE SUPERVISION. THIS PROGRAM WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE FUNDING THAT WAS PROVIDED BY THE BIG VALLEY AND ROBINSON RANCHERIAS AND THE SUPPORT OF BIG VALLEY, ROBINSON AND MIDDLETOWN RANCHERIAS.
