Lake County Museums

Welcome to the Lake County Museums!


The County of Lake is home to two fine museums featuring local history, and Native American and early pioneer artifacts.

Historic Courthouse Museum

Located in downtown Lakeport, between Library Park on beautiful Clear Lake, and the county courthouse.
Historic Courthouse Museum

The Courthouse Museum offers the following:
  • Pomo Baskets and other Native American artifacts
  • Geologic History of Clear Lake
  • Gem and Mineral Display
  • Pioneer artifacts
  • Restored Courtroom
  • Research Library and Photograph Collection
Open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and Noon - 4 p.m. Sunday.

The museum is closed for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day.

The museum is open with limited hours on the following special days: Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day and the Friday following Thanksgiving.

Historic Schoolhouse Museum

Lower Lake Museum

Located on Main Street just east of downtown Lower Lake.

The Schoolhouse Museum offers the following:

  • Pioneer artifacts
  • Rock and Mineral display
  • Restored Schoolroom
  • Victorian Parlor
  • Resource Library
  • Cultural Events and Art Shows in the Weaver Auditorium
Open 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

The museum is closed for the following holidays: New Year's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day.
