Law Library

Every county in California has a state mandated Law Library. Our funding comes from court fees, not tax dollars and we will make every effort to maximize this funding to provide as wide a range of resources as possible.

What We Have

Facilities: Two computers, printer, copier, typewriter, and study areas.

  • COUNTY: Ordinance and zoning for the County, City of Clearlake and the City of Lakeport
  • SELF HELP: Landlord/Tenant, Small Claims, Divorce, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney, Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, Criminal, Real Estate, Bankruptcy, Civil Procedure, Estates, Guardianship, and Family Law among others.

Lending Policy

Only local members of the Bar and Judiciary are allowed to check out books. Checkout is during the last half hour of the day to be returned the following day during the first half hour of the day except for the Attorneys and Judges who are employees of the County of Lake, who may return them later in the day. Patrons are required to show State Bar Card, proof of address and phone number and reside in Lake County.

Redundant collections are available for public lending provided a driver's license and phone number are given prior to checkout.
Currently only Cal Jur 3d is available.

Interlibrary Loans

Available upon request. Time frame is generally one week and patron will cover shipping fees. The books may not leave the library.
