LABOR MARKET INFORMATION

Lake County is home to several key industries that generated more than 14,000 jobs in 2006. Government is the largest industry, employing more than 4,400 workers. Trade/Transportation/Utilities is the second-largest sector with 2,850 jobs, followed by Educational/Health Services with 2,160 jobs; Leisure/Hospitality with 1,590 jobs; Agriculture with approximately 1,000 jobs; and Construction/Mining with approximately 890 jobs.

Between 1996 and 2006, unemployment in Lake County decreased from 11.7 percent to 7.1 percent.
