District 1

Michael van der Boon, District 1 Planning Commissioner

District 1, the 'South County', includes the communities of Middletown, Hidden Valley, Cobb, Lower Lake, and a portion of the City of Clearlake. The areas of Lake County governed by the Planning Commission do not include properties in the Cities of Clearlake or Lakeport.

Michael is in his third year as District 1 Planning Commissioner.  He was born and raised in Holland, attended High School and Business College there, immigrated to Canada in 1954, married in 1957, and they moved to the U.S. in 1963.  After twelve years in San Jose, they moved to Healdsburg in 1975, where they owned and operated a wholesale food company for twenty-two years.  They retired in 1997 to Cloverdale and moved to Lake County in 2003.

Michael has always been very involved in the Community, Director of the FFA Fair Board, President of the Lions Club, President of the German Club, Lodge 25, 32e degree Master Mason and he started the Healdsburg Soccer League for boys & girls.
