Local Press Releases & Media Alerts

As of 3:00 p.m., the fire on Mt. Konocti is reported to approximately 80% controlled, with an estimated 30-40% contained. It has burned roughly 275 acres in very steep terrain. Konocti Road, at the base of Mt. Konocti (past Mt. Vista Middle School) is closed to ALL traffic until further notice. Please avoid this area as emergency fire personnel are trying to get equipment up the mountain. (Posted 1/22/2013, 4:18 p.m.)

This morning, a control burn at Red Hills Vineyard escaped into the brush on Mt. Konocti. At this time, it continues to increase in acreage. As of 12:45 p.m. the fired had burned 150 acres through thick brush. The County Public Services Department has closed Mt. Konocti Park Road crews have closed Konocti Road.
