Administration

Our Mission:

To assist and advise the Board of Supervisors in managing and administering County government in a manner that serves the citizens and taxpayers of Lake County as efficiently and effectively as possible; to maintain financial solvency within the County budget; to provide guidance, assistance and oversight to County departments in fulfilling their missions; and facilitate interdepartmental communication and accountability within County government.

The County Administrative Office is responsible for general administration of County government. One of the most important responsibilities of this department is preparation and administration of the annual County budget.

This department is also responsible for direct administration of several County programs and divisions, including Marketing and Economic Development, Public Defender, Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Purchasing, Unemployment Insurance, Geothermal Resource Royalties and providing assistance to the Grand Jury by preparing and administering the Grand Jury's annual budget. The County Administrative Officer serves as the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, County Marketing Director, and County Purchasing Agent.

The County Administrative Officer is also responsible for reviewing agenda items for the weekly meetings of the Board of Supervisors and assisting in the annual performance evaluations of Board-appointed department heads. The department prepares and maintains the County's Policies and Procedures Manual and the County Ordinance Code. The Administrative Office also analyzes proposed State legislation and assists in compiling the County's state and federal legislative priorities.

The department provides guidance and assistance to County departments in the performance of their duties and responds to inquiries from other governmental entities and members of the general public on a wide range of topics concerning the operation of County government.
