Born and raised in Northern California, Denise Rushing has lived and worked in both urban and rural areas throughout the North State. Her business career as a leading energy-efficiency technology executive spans over two decades and includes a number of technology start-ups including Sage Systems in Alameda as the Vice President of Business Development and CellNet Data Systems, in San Carlos: first as Director of Sales and later as the VP of Sales and Marketing. Up until 1996, she held a variety of leadership positions at PG&E throughout Northern California, including Director of Energy Efficiency Programs and Manager of Clean Air Vehicle Programs where she launched PG&E’s award-winning energy-efficiency programs.
Denise is an engineering graduate of Stanford University where she studied environmental sciences and alternative energy. She holds a Master's Degree in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University.
Denise is a resident of Upper Lake, California where she grows organic walnuts and implements ecological agriculture, (permaculture). She is the mother of two young adults, a licensed private pilot and a registered engineer. She was elected District 3 supervisor in November 2006 and began her term in January 2007.
